Hi, I'm a 21 year old college student and artist in Northeast Ohio trying to escape an unstable and abusive situation. My father is abusive and my mother is mentally unstable, manipulative, stubborn, and not great herself.

My minor brother is projected to successfully escape after a custody battle against our father and mother. He will go stay with our grandmother. But her landlord will only let him and her live together under her lease. She has a 1 bedroom apartment that can barely hold two people. This leaves me, an adult, with no where to escape from him, who will soon return from California, enraged at losing his son, and it's unpredictable what he will do to me.

I am currently a freshman attending college and due to my anxiety and tight schedule am struggling to find work.

I cannot afford much of anything in this situation. Apartments require you make 2x or 3x the rent in income. Thus, my 3k in savings are useless currently. This is also why I have not escaped earlier. Even when I was working, I only made 500-600 a month. My only options are to stay in this home that's falling apart due to my dad, who is also the landlord, refusing to make repairs to the house in a timely manner. The kitchen sink has not worked since June. The plumbing went down in July 2023 and we were out two weeks without facilities before he finally sent someone to fix it. The bathroom has been full of black mold since I've lived there.

My goal is to take out a loan and live on campus. But this plus tuition for four years will take everything I have and so much more.

As I assume currently, the bulk, 50%, of the money donated will go my savings to pay off the loan and tuition as soon as possible. The goal is just a random number picked. 25% will also be budgeted for savings for a car to go with the 3k I already have. All else, 25% will go to food and water until I (if, as the fundraiser may throw a huge wrench in this) can get foodstamps or SSI. These numbers will be adjusted at needed. This issue is ongoing and has been for years. My goal is to graduate college with a bachelor's to get a job I can tolerate with my degree. I was thinking library.
