Help a Struggling Teacher Pursue Their Dream at Columbia
Donation protected
My name is Maya, and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree at Teachers College, Columbia University. I have always been passionate about education and I am committed to making a difference in the lives of students. Unfortunately, I am struggling to support myself financially as I work towards this goal.
I came to New York with minimal savings, driven by my dream of designing a school that closes the opportunity gap in education and provides an equitable, forward-thinking curriculum that serves all students' unique needs. Despite my best efforts to secure employment since the end of June, I have been unable to find a job in the city, relying solely on my savings, which are now depleted. As a result, I am now facing significant financial challenges that threaten my ability to pursue my studies. Ironically, I find myself struggling with the very opportunity gap I am so passionate about addressing. At this time, I am unable to afford basic necessities such as groceries, rent, washing laundry, and even purchasing my textbooks.
I have reached out multiple times to financial aid offices and other sources for emergency assistance, but I have not been successful. As I continue my education, the financial strain is becoming overwhelming, and I am now in desperate need of support.
I am reaching out to you, my community, for help. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly towards essential expenses such as food, clothing, and the textbooks I need to succeed in my program. Your generosity will not only support me in this challenging time but also help me continue my journey to becoming an educator who can make a positive impact on the lives of students.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support you can provide.
