Help a Struggling Family in Gaza Rebuild Their Lives

Donation protected
This fundraising campaign was launched to help Walid with his immediate evacuation from Gaza to Cairo, Egypt. With the ceasefire agreement including the reopening of the Rafah crossing, Walid hopes to travel as soon as possible to build a new life. He has many family members to support, so his speedy evacuation is crucial. The funds will go towards travel through the Rafah crossing, renting an apartment for his family, medical checkups, and living expenses in Egypt.

Donate if you can! Sharing some information about Walid really helps him connect with people like you who can help. Receiving support makes his family feel more optimistic about their future. Thank you in advance for your generosity! Together we can help them rebuild their lives.

Hello, I am Walid Al-Wadiya, an engineering student at Al-Azhar University. My family is my mother, father, two sisters, and my brother.

The suffering and nightmare began on 10/13/2023

That day, me and my family left our house.
We left behind everything (clothes, papers, ambitions, dreams, and even security, which we left in that warm house).

We left the house and we didn't know where to go. We got distracted.

We were displaced to several places and everywhere we saw death.

First, we went to a house in Nuseirat camp, where there were about 70 people together, and there were no supplies or food stocks sufficient for us to survive. Despite that, we stayed until the news of the evacuation came and we were displaced to Rafah. Things were worse than before. I used to spend the whole day searching for food, water, and wood to cook food. Our daily obligations, and night often came and I returned without achieving anything due to the lack of food in the markets and the crazy rise in prices.

We reached an indescribable stage, as we moved to the primitive era. My mother washes the clothes with her hands, and we cook food on a wood fire, and we sleep on the floor. And life turned into hell

In January we were forced to flee again and headed to the Zawida area and set up a small tent in my friend's house yard. The tent can accommodate 6 people and I built a bathroom as if it were a real bathroom. We are trying to get along, but day after day the situation gets a million times worse.

Every time I look at my family, I feel a pang in my heart. This is not our place, our food, our clothes, and our place to sleep. Why are we supposed to be in this place?

In addition to the suffering and loss we are experiencing in Gaza, our home and my father’s store, which was his source of income, were destroyed. Therefore, this situation has become unbearable, our reality, and there is no escape.

In addition, my father is stuck on the other side of Palestine. Connection with us was cut off for days. He does not know anything about us and waits for the call to return, holding his phone, afraid to hear painful news about us at any moment.

Can you imagine the amount of fear in the heart of a father leaving his family in the middle of the fire with his hands tied !

All day long questions run through my mind: Will we survive until the end of the war? Or will the other one leave? Will we meet our father? All I wish is for this nightmare to end.
