My name is Alberto Gonzalez. I’m a single father, currently rebuilding my life after a hemorrhagic stroke that changed everything.

One year ago, my life took an unexpected turn when I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. In an instant, the left side of my body was paralyzed, and the life I knew was put on hold. It was a critical moment that challenged everything I took for granted.

The Fight for Recovery

The physical journey has been grueling, but the hardest part hasn’t been just the mobility—it’s been reclaiming my focus and mental clarity.

The simplest tasks became my biggest milestones. I went from being a fast, two-handed typer to painstakingly relearning how to navigate a keyboard with just my right hand. It’s been a lesson in patience and pure grit.

Why I’m Reaching Out

Because of the cognitive toll the stroke took, I eventually lost my job as a senior software developer. Since the start of this year, I have been working tirelessly to find a new professional role. However, rehabilitation doesn't wait for a paycheck. I am fully committed to my recovery and to returning to the workforce as a productive professional. But to get there, I need a bridge to cover the costs of the very treatments that will make me employable again.

El día que mi mundo cambió

Mi nombre es Alberto Gonzalez. Soy padre soltero y actualmente estoy reconstruyendo mi vida.

Hace un año, mi vida dio un giro inesperado cuando sufrí un infarto cerebral hemorrágico. En un instante, el lado izquierdo de mi cuerpo quedó paralizado y la vida que conocía se detuvo por completo. Fue un momento crítico que desafió todo lo que daba por sentado.

La lucha por la recuperación

El camino físico ha sido pesadísimo, pero la parte más difícil no ha sido solo la movilidad, sino recuperar mi concentración y claridad mental.

Las tareas más sencillas se convirtieron en mis mayores logros. Pasé de escribir rápidamente con las dos manos a reaprender con mucho esfuerzo cómo usar un teclado con solo la mano derecha. Ha sido una lección de paciencia y pura garra.

Debido al impacto cognitivo que me dejó el infarto, eventualmente perdí mi trabajo como programador senior. Desde que empezó este año, he estado buscando incansablemente una nueva oportunidad profesional. Sin embargo, la rehabilitación no espera a que llegue la quincena.
