Help a Stray Mom Cat and Her Kittens Get the Care They Need

Hi everyone,

I’m fundraising to support a young stray cat and her three kittens who recently came into my care after living outside. We’re committed to caring for this little family ourselves rather than surrendering them to a shelter. Many shelters are currently overwhelmed, and we’re deeply concerned that, due to limited resources and space, these cats could face the risk of being euthanized. We want to give them the best possible chance at a healthy, happy life—starting with proper care, vet visits, and a safe home environment.

This momma cat first showed up in my neighbourhood last summer. We know from talking with neighbours that she was abandoned a year ago and has been living outdoors ever since. Based on her size and behaviour, we think she’s only about a year old.

A few weeks ago, during a heat wave, she gave birth to four kittens in my backyard—in my compost bin. I discovered them one morning as I was leaving for work, but by the time I got home, she had already moved them to a new hiding spot. I kept leaving food out for her, and she came back each day to eat. For two weeks, I searched for the kittens, looking for any sign of them. Finally, once they began walking around, I was able to track them down in a neighbour’s shed. Unfortunately, I was only able to find three of the four kittens.

Since bringing them inside, the little family has been adjusting well. They are eating, playing, and slowly learning to trust. One of the kittens had an eye infection before I brought them in, so I took her to the vet and have been treating it as directed. Mom was severely underweight, so I’ve been giving her 24/7 access to food, feeding her soaked kibble in the morning, wet food at night, and slowly introducing treats to help her gain weight and build strength.

The change in momma cat has been incredible—she’s becoming more affectionate each day, finally able to rest and relax without fear.

How You Can Help

I’m doing everything I can to care for them, but vet care, food, and supplies add up quickly. I’m asking for support to help cover:

Vet visits for all the cats
  • As of right now, the vet bill for the kitten with an eye infection has amounted to $388

Vaccines, deworming, and checkups

Food, litter, and pee pads
  • Food costs have reached around $200

Safety equipment (like gates or carriers)
  • Needed to buy a pen for the exploring kittens, came out to $60.

Emergency medical care, if anything unexpected happens

Every donation, big or small, will go directly toward helping this little family get the care they need to grow strong, stay healthy, and—eventually—find loving homes.

Thank you so much for reading and for any support you can give, whether that’s donating or simply sharing this campaign. Your kindness truly makes a difference.

With gratitude,
Hayley
