Help a Story Artist Relocate to new home

Donation protected
Hi, I'd instead not use my real name because my family knows about me using GFM to ask for help. Those who do know I go by @grvphte on social media. I am a storyboard artist trying to relocate and once again be on my own. I live in upstate NY, and after moving back home before the pandemic. My dad had cancer and passed away in 2021. My parents and I never got along. I am a survivor of narcissistic abuse. It's a very long story of my mom and dad's unhealed trauma and messing up their children. But in my case, it's life-threatening. I've been beaten, fought, thrown down stairs, and publically embarrassed on many occasions. To not be homeless, most of my funds have been closely monitored and used for contributions to house funds and bills, while I've neglected my own. I'm 28. I should be trying to figure my life out and career stuff instead of having panic attacks about home stuff. Therapy feels like duct tape; it is only a temporary fix while still having to survive is opening wounds. They also have not supported me through my artistic journey. I've made major connections, but due to the mental stress of dealing with ongoing trauma, it feels like I can't leap into independence. Also, conveniently, working in a creative industry in 2023 is... rough. I've looked into work around the state, and it doesn't look good. My chances are looking much better in different states, and your contribution will help greatly. Relocation feels like a chance to fix those issues and improve my life permanently. My father passed, and it's actually been easier to regain some autonomy. I even got an official diagnosis of ADHD, so it's been validating to feel all that ails me isn't my own doing. I set up an art shop in 2019 but cannot continue the business due to financial manipulation. I can only choose to appease my family or be homeless. With my potential, staying home to work on my art is much more beneficial in the long run than trying to do it from my car, and homeless. 2023 update: I went to California for a job conference funded by my art teacher now retired. I was interviewed and told that I have some strong work and landing a job in the animation industry is just a matter of time. Now that studios have an eye on me, it feels so good to be validated. I had no confidence in my work and my enviornment convince me to be true. And it wasn't. Funds would be for relocation as most storyboard revisionist/artist positions are in LA, NYC, or ATL. Even though it's not required for me to live in those places to land a job there, leaving my family ultimately would make working on my career so much easier. TLDR: help a (black/queer/disabled) artist relocate from an intolerable home. I'm not the best at asking for help, but I have no other choice.
