Momolicious is a Nepalese Food Truck that operates in the Bay Area. It was established in 2017 by two immigrants from Nepal.
The business was temporarily closed since March 2020 due to COVID-19. On June 17,2020, we were working inside our kitchen on re-opening the business and that's when one of the trucks was stolen from a secured parking of the commissary kitchen in broad daylight.
On top of the financial struggles that we were facing from the pandemic, this is a huge hit to our business. They just not stole the truck, they took the entire business from us.
Two days later we were able to recover the truck from a homeless encampment in West Oakland under the 880 Freeway. The truck was wedged under the freeway. There has been significant damages to the truck. The thieves were able to take everything that was not bolted in the truck. The truck was completely trashed from inside.
It will take at least couple of months for us to fix the truck (if it can be). While the insurance may cover some of the damages, we will lose a significant amount of business as summer is the peak season for food trucks to do the business. This has set back our future business plans and questioned our survival.
With the funds generated from this fundraiser, we will be using the amount to purchase all the items such as register, pots & pans, kitchen supplies, etc that are needed to operate the truck once its fixed. It will also be used to repair any damages that may not be covered from insurance.
The funds will also be used to purchase necessary equipment to start catering business that will help us generate revenue and sustain.
Any amount of donations will be highly appreciated.
Any excess funds that will remain will be used in giving back to the community in various ways. We have donated hot meals to senior homes who were victims of the Napa Fire 2017, first responders, and Sonoma County staffs coordinating shelter homes during Paradise Fire 2019.
You can also support us by visiting our 2nd truck that will be parked in Embarcadero Plaza, San Francisco, Monday through Friday 11-2pm.
Thank you for hearing our story.
