URGENT: Help A Trans Man Afford Top Surgery

I have my top surgery scheduled on August 9th, less than 2 weeks from now.

I am a 19 year old trans man getting ready to start my freshman year of college. After 3 years of living socially as a man and 1 year of HRT, I will finally be able to enter my new on-campus living situation 100% stealth without disclosing my medical status to my dorm mates. I've really had my hopes set on living stealth because having to socially transition in high school took a serious toll on me. It has required perseverance, a lot of strain on close relationships, and some personal sacrifices to make that reality possible for me.

Taking a gap year after high school was necessary in order to save up any money for top surgery, so I worked a service industry job for about 8 months. I relied on my own income during that time because I was financially supporting myself and all living costs in NYC, often while also struggling to find housing. Unfortunately, I did not have enough resources to meet this $7,000-8,000 goal by myself in time for the school year.

I recently learned that I might have to get a version of the operation that is more expensive than I'd initially thought. In addition to the major payment on the surgery date itself, I still have yet to pay a few overdue hospital bills from consultations with my surgeon. Now that I’m unemployed, my insurance coverage is much less than ideal since there is an unmet deductible in my plan. My only option is to cover this larger copay myself, as with all other expenses of my medical transition, which can only be possible with the help of this fundraiser.
