Ive recently (within the past year) transitioned to being a stay at home mom. This was a decision for all the kids and it has made significant (good) changes. Its now a one income household. My husband works very hard but we didnt forsee my supposed newer, fancier, vehicle breaking down on us. We have four kids in the household and one on the way. My van is the only thing big enough for all of us. Its our primary transportation. Doctors, dentists, kid gets sick at school, errands, all of it. I also went back to school this semester so it's also the way I do that. My husband's vehicle can not fit the car seats and it's on its last leg too. Adjusting to being a one income household has been extremely difficult but worth it for so may reasons. Childcare was becoming too difficult and holding down a job was becoming difficult, with four kids, three in school, having to come in late to get them to school, one gets sick or hurt and I'd have to leave work, calling in because one has to go to the doctor, etc. I put my kids first and I dont regret it however now we're in a really bad situation with the vans sudden failure. Based off of the computer at the auto store and estimated repairs, it's part of the transmission and should cost around 1200 (I was trying to do a delivery side job here and there to help but that requires the van). With so much of daily life depending on a working vehicle, and all the kids depending on it as well as having one on the way, this has not been a fun experience at all. We're trying to keep our heads above water while we work on our next moves and we've been dragging along but a major unexpected event such as this is not something we can just work out. I hate asking for money but my hands feel tied. Anything helps, and we appreciate anything even just taking the time to read this. Thank you!
