Help a Solo Mum and Her Babies Find Security

Hi everyone,

My name is MaryElle and I’m a solo mother to two beautiful little boys, 11 months and 2.5yrs, living in Australia without any family support here.

I was made redundant without pay from the job I loved at the Red Cross during my maternity leave last year, and have been caring for my babies 24/7 while job searching unsuccessfully — with minimal consistent help from their father. Recently, when I asked him to pay the agreed child support he owed, he cut the payments and told me to leave the country.

Now just a day after my son’s 1st birthday, we’re facing giving up our rental because I can’t afford the rent. I don’t even have the funds to get flights back to my home country UK, let alone start over, and am still waiting for the outcome of my PR application so can’t access supports.

It’s really hard for me to ask for help.

I’ve always tried to be strong and independent for my boys, but right now, I’m exhausted, burnt out, and scared.

I’m reaching out in hope.

I have worked from home with my babies the past 3 years and am actively looking for remote work as a project officer or anything from admin to managerial office support.
