My name is Uma, and I’m a single mom to a bright, neurodiverse 6-year-old daughter. As a cancer survivor, I’ve faced some of life’s toughest battles — yet each challenge has strengthened my belief in resilience, education, and hope.

While undergoing treatment and raising my daughter alone, I completed the Executive Leadership Program at Stanford University. It was one of the hardest yet most rewarding chapters of my life — proving that determination can outshine even the darkest moments.

Now, I’ve been offered a place in a Doctorate program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, along with a significant scholarship recognizing my academic excellence and perseverance. This opportunity means more than a degree — it’s a path toward a stable career, a secure future for my daughter, and a chance to contribute meaningfully to the evolving world of AI.

As a survivor of both cancer and childhood trauma, my purpose is to break cycles, build possibilities, and model strength for my daughter. I want her to grow up seeing that even when life knocks you down, you can rise — stronger, wiser, and full of purpose.
