On November 8th, my sister’s home was tragically damaged by a fire. While thankfully everyone is safe, the damage to the property and their belongings has been devastating.

The fire caused significant electrical damage, meaning the whole house needs to be completely rewired. One of the bedrooms which was shared by two of the children, was destroyed - all their clothes, toys, beds, and furniture were lost. Other rooms in the house also suffered water and plaster damage from the firefighting efforts, ruining the family couch and other household items.

On top of this, there’s a huge amount of cleaning and rubbish removal to be done before repairs can even begin. The costs of clearing out fire- and water-damaged items, rewiring the home, repairing walls, and replacing the children’s essentials are overwhelming, especially for a single mum of five doing her best to hold everything together.

My sister is the kind of person who is always the first to lend a hand when someone else is in need. She never asks for help for herself, but right now, she truly needs it.
