Help a Single Mother Regain Housing & Healthcare

Hi all, a friend, colleague, and wonderful human needs support right now. She is a single mother who also cares for her mother. She is in dire financial need to keep her child, mother, and herself housed and receiving essential medical care.

This person volunteers her skills to support the arts, newcomers, education, and other areas of need. She is beloved and cherished by all those who are lucky to cross paths with her. She is a Black woman who experienced racialized trauma in the workplace. Because of that, she has not had steady employment/income for the past several months and is starting her own business.

While in transition, her family lost their apartment and health insurance. She recently started earning more money (people are seeing her value!), causing her to lose Medicaid, which covered necessary care for 2 chronic health conditions. She is scheduled for a critical health proceedure in 1 month that she may not be able to receive if she doesn't have health coverage.

She needs help paying for

temporary housing while she searches for an apartment = $1,000;
deposit and 1st month rent for an apartment = $2,000
immediate health care coverage and/or temporary health insurance coverage = $2,000
Moving costs, gas, & food = $1,000

The need for our collective well-being is real. Her health and stability allows her to be a better mother and care provider for her mother.
