Help a Single Mom of Two Secure a Stable Home
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alyssa.
I’m a single mom doing my very best to raise two beautiful children — a sweet, energetic 5-year-old boy and a strong, resilient 16-year-old girl. I’ve always been the one they count on, and right now, I’m facing something I can’t handle alone — and that’s why I’m here, asking for help.
Our current apartment — the only home my youngest has ever known — is being sold. We were blindsided. I’ve spent the last several years holding everything together on a single income, working full-time just to keep us afloat. There’s not enough savings, no backup plan — just me trying to survive in a city where the cost of living feels like it’s rising faster than I can breathe.
We’ve been through a lot together. I’ve overcome addiction and have been sober for 6 years now. That journey has changed me. It has taught me how strong I am, how much love I have to give, and how deeply I want to build a better life for my kids. I’ve fought hard to stay clean, to show up every day, to work, to parent, and to heal — all while carrying the weight of everything alone.
But this… this has me scared.
I’ve found a new apartment that could give us the safety and stability we need, but the upfront costs — first and last month’s rent, security deposit, moving expenses — are more than I can manage on my own. Plus, to add more salt to the wound, our current apartment has mold. So to avoid having a mold issue at the new place, we can’t take most of our current furniture with us. I’m trying to raise $15,000 to help us start this next chapter with some peace, instead of panic. A new home. A fresh start. A chance to breathe. The money will go towards the moving costs (first month, deposit, last month) and new furniture since we can’t take most of what we have due to the mold.
It’s hard for me to ask for help. I’m the strong one. I’m the “figure it out” one. The one people tell, “you’ve made it through worse, you can make it through this.” But today, I’m just a mom trying to keep her kids safe, and I’m asking — if you’ve ever known struggle, if you’ve ever wanted to help someone who’s trying their best — please consider helping us.
Even $5 means the world to us. Every donation, every share, every prayer — it all matters. It all brings us closer to having a safe home again.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for giving us hope when we need it most.
With so much love,
Alyssa
