Wednesday night my veteran double amputee dad was in the Haywood nursing care currently named Skyland Terrace in Waynesville and he went out to smoke around 10:00-10:30 and apparently had a heart attack. When the ambulance got there he had no pulse no heartbeat they worked on him for 45 minutes before they finally got him back a little. Once he got to the hospital he had to be put on a ventilator and between Wednesday Thursday and yesterday has been the hardest days of my life. They told me yesterday that there was no change in his brain activity there was none. He wasn't responding to anything not water in his eyes, pupils wouldn't dilate, move the tube he wouldn't gag and I know my dad would not have wanted that. I'm the only family here that he has the only family so everything fell on me. My dad was taken off the ventilator yesterday evening and I held his hand until his heart stopped beating at 5:45, now I have to go through all of the funeral preparations and everything and the VA only covers partial amounts and I'm a single mother of three and I'm also struggling as it is so I'm asking for help if anybody knows of any resources if anybody is willing to donate anything I would really really appreciate it I'm probably going to get him cremated because it is cheaper but I really need help right now because I don't have anybody but my mom to lean on and she's on disability it's just a really tough time if anyone is willing to help please send me a message or comment on here and let me know I do have venmo and cash up and one pay and chime and PayPal I don’t have a lot but even prayers are welcomed thank you.

He was a proud Newyorican army vet! He fought through so much in life. He never knew his birth parents he just lived with family growing up in the Bronx in the '60s he got into gang life and stuff so he moved to Asheville which is where he met my mom and ultimately I was born. His health started declining and he had to take insulin three four times a day because his diabetes was severe and it started with his toes getting cut off and then his foot and then they took everything up to the knee of his right leg and then a year later took his left leg but he still kept on going and kept on fighting. I love him so much and I miss him and this is the first time I'm having to do funeral arrangements and I don't even know where to start but what I do know is that I definitely will need some help because the VA doesn't cover barely anything making the decision I had to make yesterday was the hardest decision I've ever made in my life any prayers are greatly appreciated.
