Help a Single Mom Fighting for Her Family’s Safety

Hi, and thank you for taking the time to read our story.

I’m Bre. I’m a full-time student and single mother to two young children, one of whom has a neurodevelopmental condition that requires specialized care, therapies, and consistent appointments. I am their sole caregiver and have taken on the full responsibility of meeting both children’s needs—practical, emotional, developmental, and educational. It’s my honour and pleasure to do so.

Since our separation in late 2023, I have been solely responsible for the children’s day-to-day care. While the other parent provides support payments as outlined in a notarized agreement, these funds cover only a portion of our basic expenses. I’ve been covering all other essentials, including therapies, assessments, medical expenses, and more on my own, but the added legal costs are now exceeding what I can manage alone.

I am currently unable to work outside the home due to full-time caregiving responsibilities and educational commitments I’ve pursued to increase long-term stability. This allows me to be present for frequent appointments, therapies, and daily support while working toward a better future for our family.

I've done everything I can to create a stable and supportive home, including the current diy fence building project in the outdoor space so my children can safely play, and transforming part of our home into a sensory-friendly play area tailored to my child’s specific needs. These efforts are necessary and deeply meaningful—but they add to an already stretched budget.

I am currently facing legal proceedings related to past parenting arrangements. Though the other parent had willingly stepped away from parenting responsibilities per our agreement, new legal actions have placed a heavy emotional and financial strain on our family. Legal costs have already exceeded $15,000 and continue to grow.

I’m reaching out because I cannot meet these legal expenses on my own. Every contribution to this campaign—no matter how small—will go directly toward covering legal fees so I can continue advocating for my children’s best interests and safety.
