Help a single Mom and her 2 kids keep their home
My husband left when Sadie was six months old and Judah was six. I tried to keep up with the mortgage payments, but without the two incomes I wasn't able to manage it for very long.
I had a small daycare business that ended during Covid, so I’ve been trying to supplement the child support payments by launching my own business from home part-time. I inquired with the bank about the possibility of getting a loan based on my self-employment income and child support, but they told me they would not accept this for obtaining a mortgage. The bank requires 2.5 years of employment getting a paycheck from an employer to qualify for a mortgage. I’ve managed to save some money toward purchasing our home, but since it is is in foreclosure and scheduled to go up for auction in November, I must raise the entire balance.
I need to inform the bank of my intent to pay off the house by November 18th, and pay the balance by November 19th in order to avoid the house going up for auction. Based on current market conditions, it is highly likely that the house will be auctioned off for significantly more than I owe. Because of this, the bank has made it clear to me that they will not wait even a day longer than I legally have to pay off the house. If I were able to keep the house, I would be maintaining the equity acquired over the past eight years, and hopefully have the opportunity to sell it down the road.
The bank posted the house on an auction site, causing house flippers to knock on our door, stating they will be at the auction. They want to buy the house and flip it or turn it into a rental.
Judah turned a year old in this home and is now eight; Sadie is three. This has been the only home they have ever known. The divorce has been very hard on all of us, especially the children, so fighting to keep our home and them in their current schools without disruption is best for them. Finding another place to keep them in their school would be difficult. I have wonderful neighbors who have been a strong support system. If we have to leave here, that will be another deep loss, especially since I have no family in this state.

Some of you might have read the previous update that stated I had a large donation coming. At that time I updated the amount raised to reflect that . At this point this donation has not been received, and may not be coming. We only have 4 days remaining before I have to alert the bank of my intention to pay off the house.
I am open to do contract for deed or other financing scenarios potentially, but time is very short at this point, so this would need to happen very quickly.
If the full amount is not received by November 18th, my intention is to use the funds raised so far of around $5,000 to secure new housing for me and my children. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Please continue to share our story!
