Help a Single Father with Colon Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Erik Stanley. I'm a single dad with Stage IV colon cancer.
Most of you reading this probably know my story. For those who don't, I'll be brief: On NYE 2019 I got a call from the hospital telling me that my wife Kacie had colon cancer and that they'd need to operate immediately. Then, in 2022 I went into the emergency room for stomach pain and was told that I also had colon cancer.
The odds that we'd both get colon cancer before turning 45 were slim, but I guess some couple was going to have it happen to them, and we won the 'lottery'.
We made the most of the days we were healthy. We were interviewed by Colorado Public Radio, and were asked to speak at the Colorado Blue Hope Bash. We tried to tell anyone we could that they should get a colonoscopy if they felt that something was wrong, no matter what their age. We figured that we
should capitalize on this terrible coincidence and try to make something good from it.
Unfortunately, my wife passed away in the summer of 2023. She was only 37. Since then, I've kept a low profile. I can still work, but only part time. Any extra energy I have goes to taking care of our 8 year old son.
While I've been cursed with some terrible luck, I've been blessed with a great group of friends and family. All of you have helped me survive what could have easily been an impossible situation.
A lot of people have asked me how they can help. If you'd like, please consider a small donation. It'll go a long way towards covering medical bills and monthly expenses.
Thanks!
Erik
