Hi, my name is D.J. Burnham, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest moments of my life. In 2019, I was diagnosed with heart failure — a condition that’s made everyday life a challenge, but one I’ve faced head-on for the sake of my three amazing young kids, who I raise full-time on my own.

Right now, I’ve been in the hospital for over two weeks due to complications from my heart condition, and it’s looking like I may be here even longer. That means more missed work, and with rent and bills piling up, I’m at a point where I need to ask for help. I’m not looking for a handout — just a hand up to help keep a roof over our heads and the lights on while I fight to get back home and back on my feet.

I’ve always worked hard to take care of my kids and manage this condition without complaint. But this setback has pushed things past what I can handle alone.
