My brother and I pulled up to a parking strip to go on this hike and saw a group of men staring at us as we pulled up. The long and uncomfortable staring was extremely odd, so I said, “Hi…?” out my window and gave them a wave and an awkward smile. We got out and walked past them with no issue, but when we came back to my car from the hike (it was dark by then, unfortunately), it had been aggressively vandalized. My windshield was smashed in with a large rock, both side mirrors kicked off, and the rubber base of a traffic cone lobbed like a frisbee through another window. All my things had been thrashed around. My toddler’s car seat was covered in glass (luckily she wasn't there), and we had to drive home in the dark with glass in our butts. Unfortunately, the police said they don’t investigate vandalism cases unless it’s obvious that they tried to steal my car.
I hate to admit that I’m in between car insurance policies, but yeah, very bum timing. As a full-time single mom just getting started in building a clientele as a personal trainer, I heavily rely on Instacart and UberEats deliveries as a way of making ends meet. It would mean the world to my family and me to get any kind of support so we can get our car fixed and back to work!
