Help a Devoted Single Dad Keep His Kids Warm This Winter

Imagine raising three young boys—7-year-old twins and their 5-year-old brother—on your own, with no family nearby to help. That’s the reality for my son, a hardworking single father who gives everything he has to make sure his boys are safe, loved, and cared for.

He works full-time and pays nearly $2,000 a month just for before-school daycare so he can keep his job and provide for his family. He has to bank his tax refund each year to draw from in order to cover the deficit between what it takes to pay the bills and what he earns. Every day, he shows up for his kids with strength and love, even when the odds are stacked against him.

Now, he’s facing a crisis no parent should have to face: his home has no hot water or heat.

The 30-year-old boiler system that runs both just failed. The first repair quote he received—after paying $100 just to get it—was $20,000. Fortunately he has friends that are connected to a company that came in and quoted it at a quarter of that! Even at just under $5,000, it is an impossible amount for him.

Winter is coming fast here in Colorado. Without this repair, his boys will be cold. They won’t have warm baths. They won’t have heat at night. And their dad—who already carries the weight of the world—will be left trying to fix the unfixable.
