My name is Catherine Martin, and I’m writing to ask for your help for someone truly extraordinary — my dear friend Isaiah, a single Black father who has opened his heart and his home to six beautiful children in the foster care system.

One of the most heartbreaking realities of the foster care system is that siblings are rarely able to stay together when placed in care. Many children face not only the loss of their parents, but also the trauma of being separated from their brothers and sisters. Isaiah made the extraordinary choice to welcome two sets of siblings into his home so they could remain together — preserving their most important bonds during the most difficult time in their young lives. His selflessness and commitment to keeping these families intact has given these children something priceless: the comfort of growing up with their brothers and sisters by their side, safe and loved under one roof.

Caring for children is expensive under the best of circumstances, but for foster parents like Isaiah, the state stipend barely covers the basics — food, clothing, and shelter — let alone the extras that make childhood joyful and memorable: birthday parties, school photos, dance lessons, sports teams, and holidays filled with wonder.

Despite those challenges, Isaiah has created a home that is full of love, stability, and hope. His kids are thriving — doing well in school, healing emotionally, and growing into confident young people who finally feel safe. He makes sure they have access to excellent health and mental health care, and he’s deeply involved in helping them maintain and rebuild healthy connections with their biological parents, so that someday, when the time is right, they can safely return home.

This Christmas, I want to help give back to Isaiah the same way he’s given to these kids — with love, joy, and abundance. After a year of pouring everything he has into helping these children heal, his finances are stretched thin. My goal is to raise enough money to give these six incredible kids a truly magical Christmas — with gifts, a tree, a special meal, and the joy every child deserves to feel during the holidays.

Isaiah doesn’t ask for help. But those of us who know him see how much he gives every single day — quietly, humbly, and wholeheartedly. Supporting this fundraiser means giving these kids not just presents, but memories — the kind they’ll carry for a lifetime.
