This journey began in February. I’m a single father raising four children, ages 2 to 14. After undergoing major surgery and then suffering a stroke, I began treatment at UNC Rex Cancer Center. I was originally given only a 10% chance of surviving this long, and I am incredibly grateful to still be here today.
After 28 rounds of radiation and 18 rounds of the most aggressive chemotherapy available, my treatment options at UNC are becoming limited. I am fighting a very aggressive and rare stage 4 cancer—one that only a small number of specialists in the world treat, including doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
My doctors have urgently recommended that I travel to Houston to receive specialized care there to improve my chances. Unfortunately, my current insurance does not allow me to be seen at MD Anderson. To move forward, I must secure a new insurance plan costing approximately $850 per month, in addition to travel and living expenses between North Carolina and Houston.
I am fighting not only for my life, but for my children—so I can continue to be their dad. Any support, whether through donations or sharing this page, means more than I can put into words.
