Hi, my name is Jessica, and I’m writing this on behalf of a dear friend who would never ask for help herself. My co-teacher and friend is an elementary school teacher who has dedicated her life to serving others. After leaving the convent with little to no financial resources, she pursued her calling to teach in the lowest-paying parish school in our diocese. She has always put her students first—tutoring them at no cost, showing up early, staying late, and even continuing to teach while navigating kidney cancer.

In order to receive the treatment she has needed over the past two years, she exhausted her entire savings. While she focused on healing, the medical bills piled up. Unfortunately, her health kept her from continuing to work as many supplemental jobs as she had been to pay her bills. Last month, she couldn't make her car payment and she has been living on rice and ramen for several weeks. I have been helping her with food and paid her car payment, but I’ve reached the limit of what I can do alone. I am now trying to help her pay down her medical debt so she can breathe again—so she can focus on mortgage, her car payment, and simply rebuilding her life without constant financial stress.

She is one of the most selfless people I know. She gives endlessly to others and asks for nothing in return. She never says no to anyone when asked if she can help.
