This is my mom :). She has always been the kind of mother to put people first and do for others. She has continued to put herself last for the last time, hopefully, because on 7/21/25 she went to visit her grandkids who she hadn't seen in years due to the distance. She was excited because she cried when she left them and occasionally still cried after all these years because she felt as if she let them down by not being there. When she saw how they were living, she thought her worst nightmare was confirmed. The kids expressed that they wanted a change, and we were babysitting them the next day, so she decided to buy the stuff and help them clean up, even lining up nice used bed sets for them to have a place to sleep. Sadly, not everyone was happy, and at some point, the decision was made to have my mother jumped. She walked away but barely. Those punches are how she lost her eye and shifted three other layers, but every time she was punched, the aggressor moved her arm, allowing her to gasp for air. On Aug 5th, she will be getting the eye removed and learning to live with one eye because there was too much damage to do anything else. She is not the kind of person to ask for help or believe anyone cares enough to do so, but I believe God has a plan that some other people would love to see her fulfill one day. Please do not give from an empty cup, but if God puts it on your heart to donate anything for whatever she may need, I would greatly appreciate anyone who steps in to help ease her burden. We are not sure what will be covered by medical as her last one wouldn't cover anything. So she refused the surgery until this horrific experience brought her to an earth angel named Jill, who has been so patient and taken her time to help her apply for another insurance so that she can get the next surgery. She has helped her way into debt, lost the job she was supposed to start because of her injury, probably can't work or drive for quite some time (at least), and has no money for any court fees or anything that may arise legally. Key details: She owns the house she got assaulted in, and the police were not taking the incident seriously. I would love to file a grievance or get a change in policies and how they treat the actual victims if we can.
