Hi, my name is Shanika, and I’m reaching out to help support Tana Rice during a difficult time in her life. This past February, she went into heart failure and has since been diagnosed with a large unstable aneurysm in her heart. She now faces a major and complex heart surgery. This isn’t just another procedure; it’s a critical operation with a long road to recovery.
Being self-employed, she doesn’t have the safety net of paid time off or employer benefits. She will be out of work for several months as she undergoes surgery and focuses on healing — and with that comes a wave of financial uncertainty.
