Hi there! My name is John Douglas. I live in the Columbia, South Carolina area. I have a dear friend whose HVAC unit went out yesterday. It was over 80 in her house and she was extremely hot! Due to her health concerns and medication, this has to happen as fast as possible. The existing unit is from 2007, and it looks like the compressor went out. It is an older unit, so we decided to get a new unit instead of patching an older one and having more issues in the future. We are going to get her a new unit on Monday, March 9th, 2026, and hope to get it installed on that date. She is a widow in her 80s and on a fixed income. I have been helping her around her house since her husband passed two years ago. She is a very proud woman, and I do not want to spread her name, but I am reaching out to anyone that could help. Her late husband worked at SCDC until he retired with some health issues. We have the installation covered and just want to help her cover the costs of the unit.

We will be buying a 2.5-ton heat pump to replace the existing one that failed. We estimate that it will cost between $3,500 and $4,500. We are not marking anything up! Any money over our goal will be used to replace some decking around her house and some other minor repairs.
