My name is Anthony Capri, and I am reaching out to you today with a sincere plea for support. As a professional sailor, captain, and marine salvor, I have dedicated my life to sharing the profound impact that sailing and the ocean can have on people's lives. It is with a heavy heart that I now face a significant challenge—one that not only threatens my ability to do these things but also puts my father's home at risk. With your help, we can navigate these troubled waters and steer our way towards a brighter future.

About Me:

At the age of 23, I made a bold decision to follow my passion for sailing and to leave behind a promising career in the aerospace industry. When I joined the Embry Riddle Sailing club in 2011, the sport changed my life. It gave me a sense of self worth, the feeling of belonging, and a skill and community that transcends borders and will be with me for a lifetime. From that moment on, I have dedicated myself to sharing the power of sailing and the beauty of the ocean with others and strived to empower them with the things that I was given by the sea over a decade ago. Now, 12 years on, I've contributed to the teaching of more than 3,000 children in the art of sailing, the importance of our waterways and maritime ecosystems, and in the life long lessons that sailing brings, like compassion, friendship, and teamwork.

The Purpose:

Today, I come before you humbly seeking your support to overcome a pressing financial matter that is weighing like ballast on the shoulders of my family. I carry a significant student loan debt—a burden that not only threatens my future and my family's futures, but that immediately jeopardizes the security of my father's home. The loan term has reached its end, sending the loan into default with $172,840 yet to be paid. As we struggle to find solutions, the company holding this debt is on the verge of taking us to court, causing deep distress for my father, siblings, extended family, and myself. As the house is the only asset with equity enough to cover the debt, this has left us in a situation that has the potential to destroy our relationships with one another and to leave myself or many of us in absolute financial ruin. The student loan company, in an effort to avoid the court room, has offered a settlement of the principle, minus payments made, of $59,740 - to be paid in full by, or have a $30,000 down payment made on by **May 30th**.
