Hi, my name is Peter.
I am a Registered Nurse that has been traveling to hospitals that are short-staffed, since 2005. I specialized in Trauma ER and ICU. I have trained DOD and USFS personnel. I’ve worked from the Burn Unit to Mobile ICU. I have worked contracts from California to Maine, and Montana to Florida. Around 2012, I was injured at Parkland ER, and again, at Presbyterian around 2016. MRI shows damage to my lower back and right femoral head. I transferred to Case Management in ICU, and now travel to hospitals that need temporary help with CoVID patients, in case management. During interviews, I now inform the hospital that I’m in an electric wheelchair. So far, no problems. I accepted a “contract” with a hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I left Indiana on a three-day trip and arrived at the Staybridge Suites in North Albuquerque. Elyse the desk clerk said I could park my truck and trailer in the back, while security sat across the street and watched. Around 01:30 I got a call that my truck and trailer was stolen from the lot. APD showed up around 04:00. APD case number 220096651, record information [phone redacted]. Everything I owned was in my truck and trailer. My truck and trailer have been recovered. My truck's transmission, rear axle broken, the interior torn apart, and my clothes, work uniforms, shoes, and safe were stolen from it. This has left me almost broke.
Then the hospital canceled my contract, and I hadn't even started the first day. I'm paid up in the apartment to Feb 1st, utilities are due next Friday, and my truck will cost around $6000 to $8000 to repair. Without my truck, I can’t even get a job. I know these are tough times, however, if you can give a little, and or share, my desperate situation with just 10 of your friends, I hope not to be homeless in February. Thank you.
