Hi, my name is Dalaeja, and I'm reaching out for support during a very challenging moment in my life.

I’m currently fighting to stay in my home after receiving an eviction notice that gave me just 14 days to move out despite being in the process of securing emergency rental assistance.

This situation stems from a long uphill battle. Since 2023, I’ve been trying to recover financially after I held the room for a potential roommate who ended up flaking, a roommate moved out unexpectedly, and another who wasn't paying consistently. Alongside periods of having to shoulder the full burden on my own.

As a freelance carpenter, I’ve worked hard to stay afloat as 2023 was my first full time freelance year. Now in 2025, I have a robust client list and am currently working towards my union card.

Over the 7 years that I have been in this apartment, I have and continue to support other members of my community by housing them or providing other means of support and now I am the person in critical need of support. I’ve stretched every dollar and kept pushing forward but navigating these challenges for nearly two years has taken its toll. I'm asking for support in covering in back rent and house hold essentials.
