I want to thank everyone who has so generously donated since I started this page in the fall. It has helped more than you know.
Unfortunately, my health has not improved and I continue to struggle physically. I've been in the hospital six times since November and eight times in the last 13 months. My health issues forced me to retire from the job I love writing sports, sooner than planned back at the end of August.
I tried working as a greeter at a large retail store, but my back didn't last 20 minutes, Getting old isn't easy for someone like me who has been active for so long. I was a sports writer for 30 years and as a young man I worked fast food and labor. I'd give anything to be able to haul a wheelbarrow of cement again, but my back says no.
I have heart issues the doctors are trying to address and last week I found out I need hip replacement surgery. And I'm hoping the doctors will be able to resolve the back issues without surgery.
My Christian faith is the center of my life. I don't understand why this is happening to me, but I know God has a plan and purpose to bring Him glory. I'm reminded today that Romans 8:31 tells us nothing will keep us from the love of God.
I want my hurt to count for Jesus and point people to Him.
Any help is appreciated.
Randy Dickson
