Help a Resilient Single Mom Facing Her Fourth Cancer Battle

Donation protected
We are reaching out for your support on behalf of a resilient and determined single mother of three, who has been courageously battling cancer for over 20 years. In addition to managing ongoing health issues resulting from previous diagnoses, multiple surgeries and treatments, she is now facing her fourth diagnosis—metastatic bone cancer.

Her cancer journey began over two decades ago when she was pregnant with her third son and diagnosed with her first cancer, cervical cancer. Since then, she has bravely battled colon cancer, during which she discovered she was allergic to chemotherapy, making treatment even more difficult. She later faced cancer in her lymph nodes, and now she is living with metastatic bone cancer. Through every diagnosis and setback, she has raised her three sons on her own, fighting not just for her health but to build a life filled with strength, love, and resilience.

Despite countless challenges, she never gave up. She committed to healthy living, ran a local health and wellness business in Carleton Place, and even returned to school, earning her Dental HARP certification, all while undergoing cancer treatment and recovering from surgeries. Although her health has prevented her from securing full-time work, she remained determined and recently returned to part-time employment, doing what she loves most: helping others in the dental industry as a dental assistant.

While we wish she had the support of close family, both of her parents have passed, and she recently lost her brother to cancer. Her only nearby relatives are her three sons, who each support her in the ways they can. Her eldest is caring for his newborn, whom she adores and cherishes her role as “Gigi” to. Her middle son lives with her and helps around the house, providing day-to-day support. Her youngest is preparing to move abroad to pursue his education, a dream she wholeheartedly supports and would never stand in the way of.

Sadly, her most recent diagnosis has severely impacted on her mobility and ability to carry out daily activities, forcing her to leave her part-time job once again. As a part-time employee, she did not have access to income replacement insurance, and although she is applying for Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits, the support she may receive would not even cover her rent.

She has done everything she can to survive and support her family on her own, but now, she needs help.

We are raising funds to help her cover:

• Basic living expenses (rent, utilities, groceries)
• Transportation to and from medical appointments
• Ongoing medical costs not covered by Canada Pension Plan Disability

Even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference, helping to provide her with the financial stability she needs to focus on her health and recovery.

She is a well-respected and compassionate neighbor who has always given generously to those around her in the Carleton Place community. Now, she needs our support. Please consider making a donation and sharing her story with others. Together, we can show her that she’s not facing this battle alone.

Our goal is to reach $15,000, which will assist with her monthly costs over a period of 6 – 10 months. If we can reach 1500 people at $10 per person we can achieve this goal.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
