When I spotted a stray cat alone at an office park, I knew I had to stop and help him. He was in rough shape. His fur was badly matted, and he seemed to have an upper respiratory infection. I was able to pick him up, bring him home, and isolate him in my basement to keep him safe, since I have a dog and another cat. After feeding him, I took him to the vet the next day, where he was put on antibiotics and treated for ear mites, fleas, and ticks. The vet shaved some of the mats out and started him on a path to recovery.
He’s been to the vet twice so far. After the first visit, I brought him back for a follow-up, where he received vaccines, had blood drawn, and was put on another antibiotic. The vet determined he’s an older cat with severe dental issues, including rotten and broken teeth. He needs dental surgery, but he also has a heart murmur, so the vet needs to investigate further to make sure it’s safe for him to undergo anesthesia. The funds raised will help cover his vet visits, medications, diagnostics, and the potential dental surgery he needs to live comfortably.
I’m a single mom with three kids, currently in the middle of a move, and I’ve already accumulated significant debt on his care. I had to take out a credit line at the vet’s office since I didn’t have the money to pay for his visits. The surgery estimate is substantial, and I would be deeply grateful for any support, whether through donations or sharing this fundraiser, to help give this sweet boy a chance at a healthy life.
