A Refugee’s Dream: Help A Doctor Complete His Medical Journey
My name is Lauren, and I live in the US. Over the past year, I've gotten to know Ali, a recent medical graduate from Gaza, through his family on social media. While he has successfully completed his medical studies, Ali needs financial support to cover his school and living expenses, which his family previously helped with before being displaced. Ali is close to achieving his dream of becoming a doctor, but he needs about $6,000 USD to ensure
his practicum isn’t delayed. Due to his location, I will be managing the campaign and transferring donations directly to him.
In his own words:
My name is Ali Ashraf Radi, a fresh graduate doctor from Tanta University in Egypt. I am supposed to register my internship, which starts this March, based on my graduation in December 2024, to be called Dr. Ali in a couple of months, supposed. But like many others, my education has been put on hold. This genocide has devastated my homeland, leaving me to navigate the uncertainties of an unknown future. However, I remain steadfast in my commitment to medicine—a field that gives profound meaning and purpose to my life. My family has endured months of relentless bombardment, and even now, after the ceasefire, they continue to suffer from its lasting devastation. Fleeing does not mean the hardship is over—they have lost everything: their home, their source of income, and my siblings have been deprived of education for over a year. Now, I am the
one who has fled from this tragedy, with the opportunity to continue my education and work toward helping them rebuild their lives.
I have successfully completed all the requirements for my Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and General Surgery. As part of my training, I must now complete two obligatory years of clinical practice, which are set to begin this March. To start alongside my colleagues without delay and avoid losing a full year, I need to register and pay for my clinical training as soon as possible.
To complete my first clinical year, I urgently require financial support. The costs for my training amount to $2,500, while my living expenses for the year are approximately $3,000. Additionally, I need $500 to obtain my graduation certificates. In total, I am seeking $6,000 in support to secure my future in medicine
and continue my journey toward serving those in need.
Any form of assistance—whether financial support, sponsorship, guidance, or opportunities for clinical practice abroad, exchange programs, or fully funded medical courses—would be invaluable in helping me continue my medical training and support my family during these challenging times.
Please let me know if you can assist or if there are any available resources or programs that I may apply to. Your support would make a significant difference in my ability to continue my education and contribute meaningfully to healthcare.
With sincere gratitude,
Ali
