UPDATE: We have an apartment and are set to move in 6/21. We need funds for physically moving out of state!

Hey Folks!

We're planning to move to Washington by July 1st! This move will bring us closer to supports and resources, as well as more sustainable housing and employment opportunities.

I am currently in the process of applying for Disability/SSI, which is estimated to take about five months for the initial determination. I have been told to assume my first determination will be a denial and I will need to appeal it. Fortunately, Washington offers financial assistance to folks awaiting their case determination, ensuring I have some income during this period. Even better, the team helping me with my case will continue to represent me, even after the move.

We also have family and friends in Washington who will provide additional support. Although housing costs are similar to Nevada the minimum wage is higher making it more sustainable.

We currently have some funds put aside for the move but the longer we stay at our current apartment the less we will have to move. They raised our rent at our renewal. Andrés is still employed but is not making a livable wage.
