Hi, I’m a queer single parent of one trans child and one nonbinary child—two incredible young people I’m proud to raise. We’re raising funds to relocate from Texas to a safer state where gender-affirming care is protected and our family can thrive without fear.

As a public school teacher, I’m doing everything I can to keep us afloat, but like many families, we’re feeling the strain of rising costs and limited resources. I’ve reached out to several organizations that typically offer relocation grants and support for LGBTQ+ families, but many are out of funding due to the overwhelming number of families trying to make similar moves.

I’m actively applying for full-time work in Minnesota, and once a position comes through, we’ll need to move quickly. These funds will help cover moving costs, housing deposits, travel expenses, and essentials to help us start over.

We don’t want to leave our community—we love the people here and the lives we’ve built. But the truth is that our state is actively trying to erase trans and gender non-conforming people. They are stripping away the rights of parents and medical professionals to act in the best interest of children. This move is about love, protection, and the hope that my kids can grow up in a place where they are safe, seen, and supported.
