Help queer & trans therapist finish grad school

My name is Aleida! I am a non-binary, Latinx, and lesbian therapist-in-training. I am currently completing my final year of graduate school at CIIS. I am currently interning at a Bay Area LGBTQ+ community clinic where I am seeing individual clients (all BIPOC) and running a support group for trans and gender non-conforming folks. On top of the 20 hours a week I spend at my internship, I work full-time at an LGBTQ+ organization providing employment services and doing volunteer Spanish translation services for several organizations.

 

I have spent the last three years dedicated to learning how to be a good therapist for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communtites and serving folks within my community doing by direct service work at non-profits and have been working full-time throughout grad school. The last semester has been the hardest six months of my life and much of my time and energy has been devoted to juggling full-time work, full-time school, and a part-time internship. I have realized that this is not sustainable as I move to the end of my time in grad school. 

 

For my last semester of graduate school, I am hoping to be able to reduce my hours at my full-time job in order to better focus on my last semester and the LGBTQ+ therapy clients I support. I am requesting community support to allow more space and time for me to begin to transition into honing in on what I hope will be my career for many years to come. I would not be where I am today without a bounty of community support that I have received at various times in my journey to becoming a therapist. I hope that through my work, I am able to give back to the community the love and support I've received from y'all.

 

I am requesting:

$5,814 to help support with rent until my lease ends

$1200 for utilities until my lease ends

$350 for support with textbooks for the upcoming semester

$2200 for support with tuition + cc debt from tuition from Fall 2021

 

For a total of $9564 rounded to 10,000 to offset the gofundme fee.
