MY FRIEND IS A TRANS LATINX SEX WORKER WHO NEEDS YOUR HELP! They have been suffering from severe PTSD to the point that they have been unable to maintain regular employment. They've been unable to afford treatment for these conditions. We've found them a treatment plan, but they quite literally need rest, time to adjust, and enough resources to continue treatment.
They need to be able to pay for rent, utilities, food, transportation, medication, doctor and therapist appointments. Going back to sex work is setting their recovery back. This is a crucial period where they could have the chance to heal; without that time, it could be back to square one, or worse. We need to come together as a community to support each other when in need. No one should be coerced into labor when they're sick.
To compound this issue, they were recently in a car accident (not their fault) that has had their car in the shop for over a month as the other driver's insurance balks and tries to dispute the claim. This leaves them dependent on ubers and friends for transportation, since our public transit system is not robust enough to serve their needs. This of course makes everything take longer and cost even more money.
Everyone deserves to be able to heal. No one should be denied care because they lack funds. This is one of my closest friends who has been helping me heal considerably as well. This is your opportunity for direct mutual aid, to make a tangible material difference in the life of a human that I love. If you've been wondering how you can support queer people, trans people, and people of color, this is how! Direct material support will go a long way. This is a friend, community member, and comrade.
This will buy us two months. The goal of these months is to continue aftercare without distraction/retraumatization and to attempt to secure disability benefits until they are stable. More would be helpful, as recovery takes time. But this would be a huge relief . **If you cannot afford to help but have experience with applying for SSDI, SNAP, or any other government assistance programs that could help, your guidance would also be highly valuable!!!**
