Hi everyone ❤️ I adopted a puppy from a local shelter recently
Due to an unknown injury or likely a genetic defect Bodhi was diagnosed with OCD (Osteochondritis dissecans). It was originally thought to be mild and would heal on its own. Unfortunately, his knee has rapidly and unexpectedly deteriorated in the span of a few weeks and will need surgery to stabilize the entire joint. Procedures include - a TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) and a MPL (Medial patellar luxation). The bone/cartilage malformation will also have to be removed.
Surgery is expected to be $10,000 with a high success rate and would offer him an almost normal joint for the rest of his life. I am an average person in my 20s already living in an area where the cost of living is high. I can't afford to get myself $10,000+ in debt or potentially damage my credit at this time. I was prepared for normal vet bills and dealing with this issue on a smaller scale but not at this magnitude. It is a pre-existing condition, so insurance does not cover this.
He is 6 months old, and I want to give him a good shot at a fulfilling life. He's a wonderful boy with so much to give despite already facing challenges (he's already missing an eye and was almost euthanized in the shelter because of the OCD).
All money will be used for his surgery, recovery, medications, and overall well-being.
Thank you for considering ❤️❤️
