Help a punk go to an Ivy League School
Donation protected
I am pursuing a career in communicating science to the general public while focusing on the intersectionality of conservation, adventure sports and social justice issues. The chance to do something to help humanity on a broad scale is all I have ever really wanted to do and have finally reached a place where I may be able to amplify the stories and voices of those effecting change and working towards a better tomorrow.
After graduating from the University of Washington with a Bachelors in Marine Biology this December, I have been accepted to the Columbia School of Journalism Master of Documentary Filmmaking.
The Columbia School of Journalism is an Ivy League school that is responsible for the creation and awarding of the Pulitzer Prize. The school has a 19% acceptance rate and the documentary cohort is only around 18 people annually.
It is a wild honor to even be accepted. Having come from an unstable background with no real path to academia, now to find myself here, I am very excited and thankful for the prospect. However, it comes with an Ivy League price tag with an estimated cost of $123,529/ yr for a year and a half long program. I have received a scholarship that makes a small dent.
I have to pay a $1,000 entrance fee to secure my seat, I am asking help to raise the funds to secure my seat in this program and make my dream come true. All funds donated will go towards my entrance fee and cost of attendance to Columbia.
If I do not raise enough money to pay the entrance fee, all funds raised will go towards the entrance fee and cost of attendance at my second choice school American University in Washington D.C.
I know that everyone has a lot to navigate these days and I appreciate any support received.
