My name is Sylva Hatchman. I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my husband, Robert Hatchman.

For decades, Robert Hatchman poured his soul into fiberglass, aerodynamics, and racing history. As a master restorer of prototype racing Porsches, he didn't just fix cars—he created automotive art. His hands have crafted machines for owners and renowned collectors world-wide, from entertainment A-listers to racing legends to commerce and industry leaders.
And although Robert’s reputation is forever tied to prototype Porsches restorations, his body of work includes complete restorations of an amazing variety of makes and models, from vintage street Porsches and Corvettes to 1930s Ford trucks and all-American, 1970s muscle cars. He spent his life ensuring that he finished every project to perfection.
Now, the man who built strength into every chassis is losing his own.
The Medical Crisis
Recently, Robert Hatchman suffered a sudden and catastrophic decline. Medical imaging has revealed metastatic brain tumors causing severe swelling and mass effect. In the blink of an eye, he has lost control of his legs and his independence. The diagnosis is aggressive, and the timeline is uncertain but urgent.
The Financial Reality
Like many artisans and craftsmen, Robert Hatchman worked for the passion of the build, often without the safety net of corporate benefits or a 401k. He and his wife Sylva, who has worked by his side in the business, are now facing a devastating perfect storm.
Because he can no longer work, their income has stopped instantly. They are currently facing the terrifying possibility of losing their family home right as he enters the most difficult fight of his life.
How You Can Help
We are asking the automotive community, friends, and anyone who appreciates a life dedicated to hard work and craftsmanship to help us keep a roof over Robert and Sylva’s heads, lights on, and food in the pantry during this medical emergency.
Funds raised will go directly to:
- Immediate medical costs, medical aids (walkers and/or wheelchair) and crucial home modification (ramps) to aid Robert’s safe movement
- Keeping Robert and Sylva in the family home (mortgage payments and utilities) so that Robert can be comfortable during treatment
- Funds for Sylva to cover basic living expenses (food, transportation, etc.) as she becomes his full-time caregiver.
- Other absolute necessities that are sure to arise through Robert’s on-going treatment
