Help a Librarian

Donation protected
A couple weeks ago I fell over a dog and injured my hand and wrist.

I work at the Winnetka-Northfield Public  Library part time. When I told the scheduler on Friday that I couldn't work the weekend, I was asked about Monday's shift. I said I'd wait to see how I healed. I was told I'd have to have a doctor's note. I replied that I'd come in no matter what.

Then my boss called and said I must go to the doctor and get a note no matter what.

I explained that usually that wouldn't be a problem, but I was on Medicaid because I earned so little. However the week prior the library realized they'd underpaid me since January. They put $3363 in my account, which kicked me off Medicaid.

Yep, I qualified for Medicaid as a librarian in an affluent town with a median income of $216,875 according to American Fact Finder.

I asked twice if the library could pay for the diagnosis/letter, but not the treatment. They said no.

I have had to pay $150 for my first visit and need at least 2 more. (I've decided to skip the final visit.) Surgery may be needed, but I hope not. I won't pursue that option.

What a shame. I hope some can donate so I can recoup what I lost due to the library's error and their lack of responsibility.

Small donations are most welcome.

Thank you.
