Help a Political Refugee Pursue Her College Dream
Hello! I am Vasilisa Kameneva (or just Vas for short), a 19-year-old from Russia seeking your support to escape persecution and make my dream of studying Animation & Game Arts at Moore College of Art & Design come true. As an LGBTQ individual with a passion for art and gaming, Moore College's inclusive environment and impressive Game Art Program make it the perfect place for me to thrive and grow.
In Russia, I faced constant challenges in expressing my creativity and identity. Not only was I limited in my artistic pursuits, but my life was also in danger due to my sexual orientation and political activism. I had to flee Russia after the FSB came knocking on my door because I participated in a protest against Russia's invasion of Ukraine. This was a choice between immigration and prison.
Upon arriving in the United States, I discovered Moore College and was instantly drawn to its accepting atmosphere. I realized that, for the first time in my life, I could truly belong and no longer feel like an outcast. Additionally, Moore's Animation & Game Arts program aligns perfectly with my ambitions to work in the video game industry, create my own comic book series, and develop my unique artistic style.
With your help, I will be able to attend Moore College. My goal is to raise $20,000 to cover a part of my tuition, as well as books and supplies for my first year there. Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. Your generosity holds the key to my future.
Thank you for your support and for believing in the power of art and community.
With sincere gratitude,
Vas
