Help a Pair of Disabled Folks Get on Their Feet

Help a pair of disabled folks escape a toxic situation!

Tori and Fletcher have been given a notice to vacate by an already toxic roommate; they have been working on moving out, but finances have made it a slow and grueling process. Despite having a decent idea of when they would be able to vacate the property, and having communicated that timeline and reason for delays clearly to the roommate in question, said roommate gave them a date two months shy of their timeline and is threatening eviction if they aren't out by the start of the new year. This is with the full knowledge that, should they be evicted, they would be unable to find any housing whatsoever for the forseeable future.

Fletcher is a survivor of childhood torture and CSA, permanently disabled by his father's neglect and cruelty, and requires constant supplemental oxygen due to Serotonin Syndrome. He has an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder, suspected to be MS, Cushings, or both, and is in the process of getting official diagnoses, complicated by the fact that neither Tori nor Fletcher have reliable transportation to medical appointments. Fletcher also has PCOS and a subpatellar tendon injury that never fully healed due to medical negligence. Fletcher has very limited mobility, is largely bed-bound, and requires 24/7 care.

Tori has been volunteering as Fletcher's aide since 2022, and has been unable to get a paid job due to Fletcher's 24/7 care coming first. Alongside the necessary constant care for Fletcher, Tori is also dealing with burnout and various traumas.

Both Tori and Fletcher are also struggling with mental illnesses and traumas that are being further exascerbated by their current living situation: the sole lease holder has failed to maintain the safety and cleanliness of the residence and its eight cats, and all other roommates are unwilling to cease recreational behaviors that are actively harming their health.

The cats:
-The lease holder's eight cats are barely cared for and covered in fleas.
-There are four litter boxes in the house that are cleaned at best once a week (healthy standard for multiple cats is [# of cats]+1).
-The lease holder's yelling at and abuse of the cats can be heard fairly clearly over voice calls.
-Several cats are in poor health, and their owner refuses to get them medical care or even over-the-counter medication.
-The cats are exposed to mold, mildew, and unsafe chemicals on a constant basis as the owner leaves water mixed with chemicals and detergents out, and the cats drink out of them due to not having adequate water otherwise.

The house:
-The kitchen is carpeted.
-The kitchen and other parts of the house have open holes to the sky that leak and let pests and other health risks into the house.
-There is mold (and water stains) all over the house, walls, floors, ceiling.
-The house is covered with tools and hardware strewn everywhere, causing tripping hazards and potential injuries.
-The bathroom floor is particle board.
-The bathroom has no door and instead is just a pair of curtains that don't reach the floor.
-Due to the particle board bathroom floor and the filthy, inaccessible tub/shower, Tori and Fletcher are unable to take regular showers unless they are able to get transportation elsewhere.
-The washing machine and dryer have both been unusable for at least six months, which means that Tori and Fletcher are unable to do laundry unless they are able to get transportation and spare funds for a laundromat.
-Most of the summer was spent without air conditioning, knowing that Fletcher's medication makes overheating easier and more dangerous, because the lease holder/homeowner refused to repair the unit and instead spent his money on weed.

Roommate Behaviors:
-The lease holder cleans drains with sulphuric acid without warning or evacuating the home.
-Despite knowing that Fletcher is on oxygen and an inhaler, and being asked to at least let them know before they do so, the roommates light up incense without giving either of them any notice, and they only find out when Fletcher starts having even more trouble breathing.
-Almost every time Tori and Fletcher have arranged with any roommate to drive them to necessary medical appointments, the roommate(s) will forget/ignore it and get high without enough time to sober up before the appointment, causing Fletcher to have to postpone medical treatment necessary for his survival.
-Toxic roommate is often yelling at the cats or his PC, loud enough to be heard over voice chat, as well as breaking things and throwing objects at the cats.

Tori and Fletcher desperately need help to escape this situation before the New Year, or they face homelessness in the Illinois winter. Their goal is to move to the much-more-welcoming city of Portland, OR, where Tori's adoptive family and other friends are waiting.

Relocating to a large city, with a better social safety net and public transportation, as well as having access to a support network via friends and family who are able to help with day-to-day life, will greatly improve Tori and Fletcher's quality of life. Unfortunately, the barrier to getting there is the actual cost of moving and the constrained timeline made even tighter by their toxic roommate demanding the pair be out earlier than they would be capable of in even the best circumstances.

Any help is appreciated, and every little bit helps! Please get this lovely disabled pair somewhere they can survive and thrive!!
