Help a Nursing Student Study and Serve in Zambia!

Dear family, friends, and every other lovely person who comes across this,

As you may know I am a junior level nursing student at CSUB’s BSN program. Our nursing program has a global outreach/ study abroad course where students are selected to travel to foreign countries and serve those communities. I was honored with the opportunity to travel with my nursing program to Zambia which is located in Africa. I was selected among 60 people to go to this location and I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to go with 36 other nursing students, nursing faculty, and nursing alumni.

This trip will take place in the summer of 2024 and will be approximately 10 days in duration. During these 10 days we will be visiting remote areas and providing community outreach by offering health screenings, health services, and health education to these folks. We will also be going to hospitals in the area to serve and participate in care. There is a nursing program in Zambia with 600 students whom we will be coordinating with and assisting with education and donating nursing school supplies (such as mannequins and other equipment) to the school.

This trip is an excellent opportunity for me to learn and serve in the realm of nursing. It is an extremely special opportunity and I am so excited to participate in it. It will really enrich my learning and understanding of nursing care, especially regarding cultural differences. This will definitely prepare me in becoming the best nurse that I can possibly be.

The cost of the trip has been reduced to $1800 thanks to generous donations and funding on CSUB’s behalf, however this is quite an expense. Any contribution is greatly appreciated and honorable. I can assure you that this is for a great cause and that I will make the most out of this trip. If you are unable to contribute, that is completely understandable. I do ask that you please share this information so that I may get as much support as possible.
