Help a NURSE HERO injured in a fire at work! ❤️❤️

Hi, my name is Kena and I am starting a go-fund-me account for my son, David who is a NURSE HERO injured by a fire in April 2021. David obtained internal thermal burns to his esophagus and lungs after inhaling smoke from a fire he was extinguishing at his place of employment. David did not hesitate to grab a fire extinguisher and fight a huge fire in the courtyard. Patients had to be evacuated because of the smoke entering the building.

Unfortunately, David inhaled the smoke becoming sick very fast. He required breathing treatments and oxygen at his place of employment. When he got home he had to call 911 for emergency care due to burns to his tear ducts and shortness of breath with extreme coughing. Over the next month he went to urgent cares, his primary doctor and specialists requiring X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans and many medication and treatment changes. David continues to see a pulmonologist every month where breathing tests are conducted and expensive medications and inhalers prescribed. His current lung test shows his lungs are at 73% capacity. David’s pulmonologist has placed him out of work from April 2021 and has orders to be out of work indefinitely.

The company where this occurred offered David to keep his insurance but he could not afford the $700 monthly with no income. David paid into short term and long term insurance but they denied paying him because they said this incident was clearly a workers compensation case. Worker’s Comp has denied the claim and David has not received any money from them. Medicaid and Medicare disability have been denied but David will appeal those decisions.

David has two children to support, an 8 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. He is a single father having joint custody of his children.

David has depleted all of his bank accounts. My husband and I have been paying his monthly expenses this year including $20,000 for a years rent. We are now running low in our bank accounts and David will need assistance with monthly bills and supporting his children.

My reason for this Go-Fund-Me page is to raise money for my son, an unrecognized NURSE HERO. David saved patients that day in April 2021 but unfortunately was injured and is now unable to work in any capacity. David needs help with monthly bills and medical bills that are accumulating.
