Help Lilah Relocate to Safety in the UK

My name is Ayebainemi Ése, and I am organising this fundraiser on behalf of my friend Lilah, a 23-year-old trans woman currently living in Nigeria.

Nigeria remains an extremely difficult and unsafe environment for many LGBTQ+ people, especially trans women. In January 2026, Lilah was subjected to conversion therapy, during which her hair was forcibly shaved and she experienced severe psychological abuse that left her traumatised and fearful for her safety.

Since then, she has been trying to rebuild her life while navigating discrimination, isolation, and limited opportunities simply because of who she is.

Lilah’s goal is to relocate to the UK through postgraduate study by pursuing a master’s degree. This would provide her with the opportunity to continue her education in a safer environment, access appropriate healthcare, and begin building a stable and secure future.

We are raising funds to help cover:
• University tuition deposit (£5,000)
• UK visa and Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) fees
• Flight costs
• Initial accommodation and living expenses

Lilah has been saving independently toward these costs, but the financial barriers are far beyond what she can manage alone.

Any support, no matter the amount, would mean a great deal. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also help enormously.

Thank you for taking the time to read Lilah’s story and for helping support her journey toward safety, stability, and a future where she can live openly and with dignity.
