I am a disabled/chronically ill parent who’s recently postpartum, and I’m in the process of being diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Syndrome, an autoimmune blood disease that resulted in part of my spleen dying due to a blood clot. I now need a heart echocardiogram to ensure that I do not have any heart problems that could increase my risk of developing further clots. While this is covered by insurance, the entire cost is out of pocket until I hit my deductible.
Antiphospholipid Syndrome causes your immune system to attack the fat cells that make up your cell membranes (phospholipids) and can result in blood clots that can cause embolism and thrombosis. I am 10 weeks postpartum with postpartum hypertension, which already puts me in a hypercoaguable state.
Please consider helping me with collecting the costs for this echo to protect my vascular system and get me started on blood thinners sooner.
