Help a New Mother Rebuild Her Classroom Supplies!!
Don protégé
Hello! Last year, in the middle of pregnancy with my first child, my previous district cut my position (for the second year in a row) and redesigned it to require certifications that would take me two years to get. This prompted me to begin the search for new roles (in and out of education) at the end of my pregnancy and throughout maternity leave and in the depths of postpartum.
Because the status of my job was constantly in jeopardy, my husband and I elected to move closer to his business in Haslet, Texas. With no luck in the education setting, during the summer I planned to make money through a self-built cheer program, tutoring online, and relying on my savings while the cheer program was building. Unfortunately, my family and I got in a car accident, which drained my bank account and pushed me to once again throw myself into the job search process for a more stable income. Finding a job close to home was my number one priority, and I am excited to announce I successfully secured a job as an MTSS Intervention Specialist in a new district!
In this role, I will be supporting students with the highest needs on campus through targeted interventions to fill gaps in their learning before they get to high school. The fact of the matter is, this takes resources. Over the past 4 years, I donated all of my classroom supplies to teachers in need. I will be rebuilding my stash of supplies from the ground up. I would greatly appreciate any and all help I can receive from my community as I reenter the classroom space. Reaching into my own pockets to build a welcoming environment for my students is not an option at this time.
People always end these asks with the phrase, "Any amount will help!" This rings true for me as well. Any donation amount will help build a stash of supplies for students to use so learning is never disrupted, cleaning materials to keep my classroom in tip-top shape, sanitary products to keep students healthy and safe, and of course basic decorations for the classroom to feel like home.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and generosity during a time where the price of everything is astronomical!!
