My name is Zachary, and I’m raising funds for my dad after a devastating house fire turned his life upside down.
My dad is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a field medic. For the past four years, he has been unable to work due to a disability and an ongoing workers’ compensation case that began in 2020. Because of this, he is legally not allowed to work, and his only income is $1,872 per month in disability payments. He has two children — myself and a 10-year-old — and has already been struggling financially, including being without a working car for over six months.
Recently, a fire broke out in the home where he lives. Although the fire started in the room across from his, the water used to put it out completely soaked my dad’s room. Nearly everything he owned was ruined — electronics, important documents, photos, and personal belongings. While we were able to save some clothing, most of his life was lost in a matter of hours.
The Red Cross was able to provide $350 for emergency food, clothing, and a short hotel stay, but that assistance only lasted a few days. We are now asking for help to replace basic necessities and help my dad regain stability during this incredibly difficult time.
Any support, whether through a donation or sharing this fundraiser, truly means more than we can express. Thank you for helping my dad during one of the hardest moments of his life.
